TRACK 1: WATER INFRASTRUCTURE REACHES A CROSSROADS

Managing water assets today is no small task. The challenges include repairing and replacing aging infrastructure, keeping current with available technology, and initiating system life cycle improvements. With replacement and rehabilitation costs increasing steadily, it is critical that system operators, water utility managers and engineers are well versed in current practices and technology. This seminar will take a two-pronged approach to these issues. First of all, workshop participants will learn about current technology and its ability to provide cost effective solutions that can result in both water quality conservation and increased revenues. Secondly, attendees will be brought up to date on the critical importance of work site safety issues. With construction and insurance costs rising rapidly, safe and efficient jobsite practices have never been more important.

Those attending this workshop can expect to acquire valuable knowledge in the areas of water system improvements, asset management and the evolution of water asset technology.

Seminar Instructors
Robert Chadwick, Dan Burdin and Robert Moody, all of Everett J. Prescott, Inc., with a total of 36 years of combined industry experience, will lead this session. Mr. Chadwick is National Sales Manager for the company, Mr. Burdin is an Automatic Meter Specialist, while Mr. Moody serves as Safety and Training Manager. All deal with water infrastructure issues on a daily basis.

TRACK 2: LOW IMPACT DEVELOPMENT

Land developers today face issues that were not even dreamed about a generation ago. In the very recent past, the consequences of off site storm water discharge were barely considered. Today, site designers and builders are charged with minimizing storm water discharge or holding it at historic levels.

Low impact development offers site designers, developers and contractors the tools needed to lessen the environmental impact of commercial and residential growth. At the same time, these tools and practices have resulted in land use practices that are attractive, functional and economical. Properly implemented, Low-Impact Development (LID) techniques can improve water quality, increase real estate values, and increase retention during and after heavy storm events.

Attendees will learn how to implement LID principles, practices and tools, including permeable paving, rain gardens, vegetative swales and clustered development.

Seminar Instructor
Pete Hanrahan, Erosion Control and Geoproduct Manager with Everett J. Prescott, Inc., possesses more than 30 years experience in the construction products industry. He is a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control, and has presented at national conferences for many organizations, including the International Erosion Control Association, the International Fabric Association and Land Improvement Contractors of America.
